Los polarizadores se utilizan en particular cuando se deben evitar reflejos molestos en superficies líquidas, de vidrio o de plástico reflectante liso, así como en materiales metálicos brillantes.
La placa polarizadora se puede configurar para diversas fuentes de luz anular, barra de luz y luz de área, y se utiliza en conjunto con el polarizador en la lente para eliminar la reflexión superficial de la luz.
